About Me

Maria is an artist who tells stories that make the audience think and reevaluate important issues. She has a very strong expressive quality, her movement is used to portray strong emotion that the audience can feel and identify with. Her repertoire is based mostly on ballet and contemporary dance. She enjoys performing in narrational piece but is devoted to portraying through dance important social issues such as the violence against women and mental health illnesses. Her work is raw, her mission is to create awareness through movement as words on these topics are often ignored, she believes that through dance the audience can be more receptive to incredibly difficult or controversial topics. She works with all types of music, pieces in complete silence and pieces performed to speech and poetry. Maria also teaches, she has more experience with young kids and is excited to work with inexperienced adults. Her focus during her lessons is to create a passion for dance while avoiding the harmful practices that have been carried on for decades, which are detrimental to the students physical and mental health.
